YEAR 12 First lesson after exams..LESSON TWENTY-EIGHT [12th June 12]: Homework.

The aim of today's lesson was to provide students with an overview of Year 13 and the content of A2 Media Studies. I have to be brutally honest and state that I was a little disappointed with the level of media knowledge that was offered within this session by the class. I do not think that it is too ridiculous to expect a group of 17 year old A Level students to be aware of The Arab Spring, The Leveson Inquiry, and the implications of Napster.

Below are a series of resources that should provide some insight into the expectation of A2 Media. All students should be watching the brilliant BBC documentary THE VIRTUAL REVOLUTION. THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL A2 MEDIA RESOURCE. Click on link below to access opening You Tube segment:

Last month THE GUARDIAN Newspaper offered a whole week of articles that relate to every media issue and debate that we will be discussing in Year 13. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE RESOURCE. Students should peruse these articles.

The Internet and censorship. This is the clip that was too distorted this afternoon. WATCH THIS RESOURCE:

The story of Napster...Shawn Fanning and the Mp3 download:

How Facebook changed the world. This is a recent BBC documentary that explores the role of social media in the recent ARAB SPRING. STUDENTS NEED TO WATCH THIS RESOURCE :

Below are the resources that I offered today to explore media issues relating to media regulation and the advertising industry.
