YEAR 12...More representation..

YEAR 13 LESSONS 5/6/7/8...

The aim of these sessions was to prepare students for the second MEST3 Section B question:
EVALUATE whether NDM poses a threat or an opportunity to media producers.

The aim of these sessions was also to prepare students for the Section A of the exam. The following resources were considered by the students in lesson 8 on October 3rd:
Nexus Promo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrOwlDxZUYg
Bluefish TV:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMq7QkR4fGI
Students considered the question...
CONTRAST THE TECHNIQUES USED BY EACH PRODUCT TO COMMUNICATE ITS MESSAGE.

This session also contained feedback to the FIRST essay and it is clear that ALL students need to improve the final section of paragraphs. This is the moment when students need to evaluate content and provide clear question focus. The second essay needs to show signs of improvement when concluding paragraphs. The level of effort was excellent within these essays but we just need to offer a little more critical detail.

HOMEWORK: Complete the second essay and hand work to me at start of the next session.

YEAR 12 LESSON 5/6/7.....

Lesson FIVE involved a timed response to the EMBRACE road safety film.
LESSON SIX was an exploration of REPRESENTATION and students examined and discussed the texts below.
Representations of HULL:

WE also looked at the DUNDEE film for City of Culture 2017:

After beginning with a consideration of the nature and quality of the photographic homework, LESSON SEVEN on Friday 30th September considered INSTITUTION and examined the following front pages linked to the death of Margaret Tha*****.

The class discussed the question:
What do we learn about INSTITUTION from these front pages?

The class then examined the text below. This was an episode of LOOK NORTH that reported on a student protest that involved OUR students in 2010.
The students were asked to consider the question:
How are the students of the J6th represented in this news item?

HOMEWORK: Complete the INSTITUTION and REPRESENTATION questions for homework.
