YEAR 12/13 Lesson: Monday 10th June 2013.

Students were asked to consider ideas that will eventually result in the creation of a podcast, a piece of broadcast media, and a piece of print media. The whole focus of the last few weeks of the academic year is the creation of creative media. Students will not be expected to produce any written work BUT they will be expected to be creative and offer evidence of practical skills.
Within this session students had ideas to create a milk advertising campaign that would involve filming the cows on the Westwood and overdubbing human voices to create the impression that the cows are having a conversation!! Another group had an idea that involves a strange rabbit virus! One group are creating a series of media texts linked to the horror genre, another plan to write a song and produce a music video to promote the song, and one group plan to create film trailers for a film that explores the selling of human memory!!! THERE WERE SOME GREAT IDEAS BEING DISCUSSED IN THIS SESSION AND NOW STUDENTS NEED TO MAKE THESE IDEAS BECOME MEDIA REALITY.

HOMEWORK: Students need to bring film footage for trailers, photographs for print media, scripts for podcasts...ANYTHING...to the lesson on Monday. Students are expected to have produced some work that can be placed on the computers at the start of the next session.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN THEIR TASKS. ANY STUDENT WHO APPEARS ON MONDAY WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE OF WORK WILL RECEIVE THE 'DEAD EYE'!
THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY TO CONCENTRATE SPECIFICALLY UPON THE CREATION OF MEDIA TEXTS. ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THEIR CREATIVE AND PRACTICAL MEDIA SKILLS THROUGH THE TASKS THAT WERE DISCUSSED IN TODAY'S SESSION.

DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE NEXT SESSION EXPECTING ME TO DIRECT THE LESSON CONTENT. YOU HAVE SHARED YOUR IDEAS WITH ME AND NOW IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PRODUCE THE MEDIA TEXTS. LOTS TO DO.
