YEAR 13 8th/12th Sept 17...

The first session was a gentle introduction into the world of Year 13 media. The course remains 50% Coursework and 50% exam. This is a two year AS/A2 course so last year's grade will also be considered at the end of the course. It is perfectly possible for a student awarded a C grade in Year 12 to grab an A grade in Year 13. BUT IT WILL REQUIRE A LOT OF HARD WORK.

The aim of the first session was to introduce the element of the exam that explores THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL MEDIA. Read the questions that i gave you. It is crucial that students are able to answer those questions in a detailed and convincing manner. THE KEY COMPONENT OF YEAR 13 MEDIA IS INDEPENDENT STUDY. YOUR QUALITY OF YOUR RESEARCH WILL DICTATE THE FINAL A LEVEL GRADE.

These two texts were the unseen texts in SECTION A of last summer's exam:

1. How do the two products attempt to create an emotional response from the audience?
2. How do contemporary media products influence the creation of British identity?
3. It could be argued that many popular media products are superficial, preventing us from engaging
with real-life issues. To what extent do you agree with this point of view?
You should refer to other media products in order to support your answer.
