YEAR 13 LESSON FORTY-SEVEN/FORTY-EIGHT [29th April/ 2nd May 14]: Homework

Students were reintroduced to THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL MEDIA with a consideration of a past question. The class discussion was a reaction to the question:
ALTHOUGH NEW AND DIGITAL MEDIA MAY PROMISE AUDIENCES MORE FREEDOM, IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY GIVE THEM MORE POWER. DISCUSS.
This question was offered to students as a timed essay in the Friday session.
HOMEWORK: Students need to be considering the topic that they will be exploring when constructing their Impact of Digital Media case study. One good example offered in Tuesday's session was a consideration of how digital media has changed how Coca Cola promote their products. Students can focus upon a specific area of digital study. YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM TO INVESTIGATE A TOPIC OF YOUR CHOICE.
Students also need to digest the two resources below and consider the representation of technology.

Your draft needs more evidence of independent research. YOU MUST REFER TO THE PEGI SYSTEM. The fact that you do not refer to this system suggests you need to indulge in some research Tom. This system is at the heart of any game regulation debate. READ THESE RESOURCES.

Jess...you need to evaluate how social media can be regulated and if this regulation may inhibit democratic freedom. How can we ever regulate the misuse of social media?
Below is a fishymedia link...look at the 2010 Digital Economy Act resources:

Come on Jess. You need to start indulging in some independent research. I feel like you just want me to tell you what to write...that is never going to happen. I want to see evidence of critical autonomy. Your regulation paragraph needs to be evaluative and detailed. Can we regulate social media without inhibiting digital freedom?
