YEAR 12 Monday February 29th 2016

Today's lesson was a timed cross-media study essay. Students had a choice of two questions - the questions we considered last week - and then produced a 45 minute response.

HOMEWORK: The students who missed this lesson need to complete the cross-media study essay. Students also need to be completing coursework.

YEAR 13 26th February 2016

Today's session was a series of one on one tutorials. The ideas for coursework are excellent.
HOMEWORK: Create coursework. Talk is meaningless. It is time to construct critical investigations and create the linked productions. Next week i want to see critical investigations and/or creative work and I expect work to have moved forward considerably from today's conversations. It is 50% of the course therefore students need to be constructing work..NOW!
Ellie and Elliot need to contact me.

YEAR 12 25th Feb 2016

Today's session began with a consideration of the cross-media study question:
'TO BE SUCCESSFUL, MEDIA INSTITUTIONS HAVE TO USE A VARIETY OF MEDIA PLATFORMS'. To what extent is this true of your cross-media study?
Class discussion explored the idea that the key platforms are broadcast and e-media with print media being almost irrelevant. Print media can be linked to the film documentary e-media but Channel Four tend to rely on the synergy between the broadcast media and the e-media.
The second phase of the lesson was a timed response to the question:
WHAT IS CBS HOPING TO ACHIEVE BY PRESENTING PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL SUCH AS THIS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixiZU7Z2uKY

HOMEWORK: Prepare for a timed essay that will confront one of the two cross-media questions that we have considered in this week's lessons.
Produce coursework. Whether research or creative...students need to be creating their coursework.

YEAR 12 Mon Feb 22nd 2016.

APOLOGIES for lack of BLOG ACTION over the last months but there are only so many hours in the day and workload  became an issue...but normal service is resumed.
Today's session reinforced the importance of students confronting the reality of the coursework. THIS NEEDS THE BE THE HOMEWORK FOCUS THIS TERM.
The lesson considered the Cross-Media Study question:
MEDIA PRODUCTS ARE ESSENTIALLY PROFIT DRIVEN. Evaluate how commercial pressures have had an impact on the products in your cross-media study.

Students were asked to consider the significance of the audience being able to consume media through a varied range of mobile digital devices.

We then considered the Section A Institution question:
What is CBS hoping to achieve by presenting promotional material such as this?
Elementary Promo:

Trailer:
