YEAR 12 LESSON EIGHTEEN [8th FEB 11]: Homework.

Students were shown a coursework folder to illustrate how evidence of research should be presented within the MEST 2 folder. Students were also shown some possibilities with visual experimentation when using i-movies.

Students watched twenty minutes of Exit Through The Gift Shop and were asked to consider the nature of this media text. The class discussion explored how the documentary conforms to the technical codes and conventions of documentary BUT the narrative structure challenges the linear nature of a traditional documentary narrative.

The final section of the lesson involved students examining the nature of the trailer for ETTGT and producing notes that would enable them to produce a media response to the question:
'How is the trailer constructed to engage the audience ?'

Homework: I expect a detailed media response to the question that relates to the ETTGT trailer. One page of word-processed A4 should be enough. I am interested in the appropriate use of media language and the specific and detailed textual reference of the analysis. Click on link below to access guidance notes:

Here is a link to the trailer that I referred to in lesson but did not have time to share with you. This is a trailer that follows all the codes and conventions of the traditional trailer. How much information can you gain in the first seven seconds of this trailer? Freeze the trailer after seven seconds and consider information relating to genre, location, character and audience. Obviously, students should be creating their practical productions.
